Beer Battered Haddock + Chip Sandwich
bread + butter Beach pickles, shredded lettuce, crushed potato chips, house tartar sauce, butter toasted artisan bun
What better way to kick-off FISH FRYDAY than with an official Trappist beer? Orval is a cult classic – and by far one of our favorite trappiest brews! With its intensely aromatic and dry character, it gets funkier over time due to the secondary fermentation that takes place in the bottle with a single strain of Brettanomyces. Smells of freshly baked bread, spice, and wood with hints of fruity esters. Slightly bitter, yet warm finish. FUN FACT - Did you know that monks brewed beer specifically for lent – and things like fish Friday (a traditional day of fasting)? Often consumed during periods of fasting and brewed within the walls of an abbey under the direct supervision of monks, Orval is legally recognized as an official Trappist brew – a designation which is given to only twelve monasteries worldwide. In order to be considered a Trappist beer, the beer must be brewed under the supervision of monks, and within the four walls of a monastery. All proceeds are donated to charitable projects, and the needs of the monastic community.
